Environment: EU aiming to be at the forefront of efforts to reduce marine litter

The European Commission has launched an international consultation on potential actions and strategies to reach EU target to significantly cut marine litter by 2025, in line with Rio+20. Early next year, studies on the feasibility of introducing policies to prevent littering and how plastic packaging enters the marine environment should be completed.
