The Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association-ExxonMobil Eco-Park Innovation Challenge 2018 held from 30 March – 1 April 2018 was an extension of the 2017 programme in which students attended a 3-day-2-night camp at iPlay Park, Damnsara Damai to learn about waste management and particularly the practice of 3Rs– reducing, reusing, recycling. Students built eco-functional innovations at the park using recyclable materials, especially, plastics recyclables. A total of 361 students (primary, secondary and university students) and 22 teachers from 17 schools took part in this national-level programme as students come from various States in Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak and Melaka. Students worked in teams and more than 60 functional innovations were built up throughout the whole area of the park. The team from SMK Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh was crowned the Champion with the innovation of an ‘Eco-Chair’ which was 100% made from recyclables.
