The GPCA Plastics Excellence Awards celebrate the finest inventions and ideas from the plastics industry in the Arabian Gulf region. A special category is dedicated to innovative plastic recycling projects that promote sustainability in plastics conversion, recycling and waste management in particular.
The 2016 winner for this category was Twyla Recycling Co. from Doha, Qatar. Twyla resells plastic waste to plastics producers that are supporting converters. The company is paid by the government of Qatar to avoid incineration or landfill. A consequent sustainability concept has been implemented throughout the Twyla factory with a very strict energy saving program.
