Professor Shigero Fujieda from Japan’s Kogoshima University presents findings of research.
In 2015, Japan Plastics Industry Federation (JPIF) joined the Japan Environmental Action Network (JEAN) and others in developing the “First Kaikawa trash Summit Declaration,” a 5-year plan to combat river pollution in the Arakawa river and reduce litter inputs. This multi year project will involve civil society organizations, businesses, industry associations, government, and others working together to raise awareness for the problem of marine litter in the Arakawa river, while growing activities to clean the river.
