Capitol-Grounds plastic microbeads legislationWorking to ensure a consistent national standard, associations representing plastic makers supported the “Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015” (H.R. 1321) which President Obama signed into law in 2015. The legislation phases out solid plastic microbeads used in rinse-off personal care, exfoliating products. The American Chemistry Council also was actively engaged in crafting workable approaches in most of the state microbead bills, including those which passed in seven states.
