The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) helped sponsor “Ship to Shore,” a project that helps fisherfolk on Canada’s east coast reduce marine litter by bringing plastics and other wastes back to shore rather than dumping at sea. Ship to Shore addresses concerns regarding waste disposal practices at sea and the lack of waste management resources at fishing harbors. CPIA sponsored a ‘how to’ manual to help roll out similar programs across Canada.
