multluThe Waste Free Oceans (WFO) “Happy Fish” or the Mutlu Balıklar program launched in 2012 under the leadership of Turkish Plastics Manufacturers Research, Development and Educational Foundation (PAGEV).  It is a cleaning apparatus, designed to collect litter from the water’s surface without harming marine life.

This WFO program engages the fishing community in cleaning up floating marine debris and bring it back to land for recycling and sorting.

“Happy Fish” gets additional support from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TÜDAV) and the Municipality of Adalar (Princes’ Islands).
