The German plastics manufacturers and the German chemical industry have jointly installed the project ‘Zero Pellet Loss’ under the well-established Responsible Care programme. Doing so, it shall be effectively prevented that plastic pellets as well as other intermediate particles would leave its manufacturing plant uncontrolled to land or to water and finally into the sea.
The project aims to raise awareness among all employees at manufacturing plants on how to properly manage pellets and other particles with the goal of reaching zero pellet losses at each step of the production, logistic processes and subsequent use of the pellets by down-stream industries.
An industrial internal supportive toolkit has been developed for this purpose. Recently, the project has been successfully adapted by the German plastics packaging industry.
