Progress Report
A Global Commitment
In March 2011, leaders from plastics associations around the world developed and signed The Declaration of the Global Plastics Associations for Solutions on Marine Litter. Recognizing that plastic waste in the environment is unacceptable and that everyone has a role in curbing marine litter, leaders launched initiatives in six key solution areas: education, research, public policy, sharing best practices, plastics recycling/recovery, and plastic pellet containment.
The 5th Progress Report summarizes the status of the commitments made under the Global Declaration. As of early 2020, 80 plastics associations in 43 countries launched, planned or completed 395 projects, from beach clean ups to awareness campaigns.
